Father's Day has American origins. It was born to celebrate a father who was an ex-secession war fighter. In Italy (where there are 20 million fathers) Father's Day falls on 19 March, a date in the Christian calendar that commemorates St Joseph, the father of Jesus Christ.

I have only two things to bequeath you, my son, and they are roots and wings.
(William Hodding Carter)

I cannot see any need in childhood as strong as the need for the father's protection.
(Sigmund Freud)

Dad, thank you for being my hero, driver, financial support, confidant, bodyguard, friend, caretaker, and thank you simply for being there whenever I need a hug.
(Agatha Stephanie Lin)

The Monte Linas Library System also wants to celebrate this important anniversary in its own way: a special edition of the 'Hour of Stories' dedicated to all fathers will take place in all libraries.

We look forward to seeing you in the library to spend a wonderful afternoon with us!
