The Library System “Monte Linas" was born in 1994 by the will of the 18th Mountain Community (now abolished) with the fundamental objective of creating a network of synergies aimed at increasing reading and the dissemination of knowledge.

It currently belongs to the Province of South Sardinia and consists of 11 libraries, of which 7 are municipal (Arbus, Gonnosfanadiga, Pabillonis, Guspini, San Gavino M.le, Sardara, Villacidro), 3 are school libraries (Piga Classical High School in Villacidro and Marconi-Lussu Higher Education Institute in San Gavino M.le) and the specialist library of the Institute of Religious Sciences in San Gavino M.le.

Over the years, the System has promoted numerous cultural and socio-educational activities for all age groups and has aimed to increasingly expand its services and initiatives throughout the region, actively involving organizations, schools, and associations.

It holds approximately 220.000 book and multimedia collections and offers inter-system lending services to its users. Access to these services is free and open to all.

The System's membership in the SBN (National Library Service) has increased the visibility of its catalog nationwide. Using the So.Se.Bi Tlm Web management program and the Librami social network has made libraries more open and accessible, fostering dialogue between libraries and readers and offering a new and more user-friendly approach to library services.
